Social Development

SUS has been working for social changes in its working areas through different interventions. If the community aware and exercise good practices which they have achieved from health and education related initiatives of SUS, people of the community will be engaged development works with more enthusiastic manner. Health, disability and social education cover a range of issues that how they affect individuals, human development and communications. SUS works to offer confidence to the people to make them informed and responsible. Thereafter, they could involve the whole community in the planning and development of the area of interaction. It also provides people with opportunities to query into social and expressive health and intelligence that can lead to a complete and balanced lifestyle. Different interventions are involved to enhance social development.

Program/project
Non-Formal Primary Education (NFPE)

SUS has been implementing NFPE since 1992 for deprived and dropped out children. Total student completed their course: 18,488. Total School: 112 (Triton Textile Ltd-TTL funded: 100 and BRAC funded: 12), Total student: 3207 (Boy: 1250 and Girl: 1957). TTL School: 100, Student: 2857 (Boy: 1088, Girl: 1769) and BRAC School: 12, Student: 350 (Boy: 162, Girl: 188)

Pre-Primary Education (Early Childhood Development-ECD)

SUS started pre-primary education in 2006 to prepare the 5+ children for primary education. Total student completed their course: 12,720. Total Center: 40, Total student: 1200 (Boy: 600 and Girl: 600).

Education Scholarship

Every year, 6-7 students from secondary school level to university get scholarship through “Marianne Hofsten Scholarship”.

SUS Hospital

SUS has been implementing the activities of “SUS Hospital” since 2010 with a view to provide quality health services to the poor people especially children, adolescent and women. At present, Cap Anamur-German Emergency Doctors is providing equipments support which will be continued upto 30 June 2019.

Services of SUS Hospital

  • Promotive (Community meeting, Courtyard meeting, School health programme, Day observation e.g. World Health Day, National Immunization Day-NID, Safe Motherhood Day etc, Advocacy and counseling).
  • Preventive (Vaccination for new born baby, TT vaccine for pregnant mother and female (14-45 yrs), Autoclave and incineration, Personal hygiene, Safe drinking water and sanitation, Gardening).
  • Curative (Outdoor patients e.g. ANC care, post natal care, Child health care, general patients, Indoor patients: operative patients, EOC services (caesarean section), Normal delivery, Satellite clinics).
  • Rehabilitative (Cleft lip and palate operation, Clubfoot correction by ponseti method, Physiotherapy, Different assistive device promotion).
  • Capacity building (Training, Exchange visit, Weekly clinical session among the clinical staff, Monthly staff meeting).
  • Supportive (Laboratory facilities, Ultrasonogram facilities, ECG, Ambulance services, Pregnancy package).

 

Disability Rehabilitation Project

There are 5.6% disable of our total population (Source: Bangladesh Disability Forum and Save the Children, September 2013). Immediate help is needed for persons with disabilities. SUS is implementing disability rehabilitation project with the financial assistance of Sister Community Association (SCA), Sweden with a view to reduce disability and ensure the rights of persons with disabilities at 347 villages of 44 unions under 5 upazilas in 2 districts (Netrakona and Mymensingh) with a total of 3418 registered clients.

Walk For Life (The National Clubfoot program of Bangladesh)

SUS has been running the project with the assistance of The Glencoe Foundation, Australia and Health and Family Welfare Ministry, People’s Republic of Bangladesh since 12 April 2011. The expertise comes every Tuesday in a week. Since April 2011-December 2018: *Total number of patient registered: 491 (Children), *Total number of feet cast: 731, *Total number of patient undertaken tenotomy: 325, *Total number of patient on brace: 455.

Babu Barta

Babu Barta is a very effective small scale project run by Sabalamby Unnayan Samity (SUS) with the financial and technical support of “SUS Support Group, Finland” which works with 400 eligible women and adolescent girls of 20 villages under 2 unions (Amtola and Singher Bangla) of Netrakona sadar upazila of Netrakona district with the specific goal “To help and empower the eligible women and adolescent girls on pregnancy and child birth for reducing maternal and infant mortality rate by providing related information in the way that they can take appropriate decisions to avail health care services when necessary”. Considering the basic needs and existing bottlenecks of services, the project tries to facilitate very crucial aspects of pregnancy care through raising awareness, increasing skill and utilizing local resources, linking with government and other services.

ENRICH Program

Sabalamby Unnayan Samity (SUS) has started a program “Increase asset and capacity of poor families with a view to eliminate poverty (ENRICH)” at Singher Bangla union under Netrakona sadar upazila of Netrakona district since 01 April 2017 with the financial assistance of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF). At present, SUS is running 31 (Thirty One) Education Support Centers (Pre-primary, Class-I & Class-II). 02 (Two) Health Officers and 12 (Twelve) Health Visitors are providing health services through two sub-offices. Doctors also provide health services through satellite clinics and health camps. Youth and adolescents are also participating in different social and cultural activities.

Cultural and Sports Program

Sabalamby Unnayan Samity has been implementing Cultural and Sports Program by the assistance of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF). By keeping the culture and tradition of the country; the talent of the youth folk along with the students of the schools and colleges is exploring by involving them with cultural and sports program.

Elderly Citizen Livelihood Development Program

Sabalamby Unnayan Samity (SUS) has been implementing the program since July 2017 with the financial assistance of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) in Singher Bangla union under Netrakona sadar upazila of Netrakona district. SUS has taken different poverty eradicating activities for creating friendly environment of economic and human development and ensuring human dignity by considering national Elderly citizen policy 2013 with a view to provide necessary social services and facilities to the elderly citizens.
